Freedom: Why It Begins With A State Of Mind
Freedom is an important and deeply ingrained state of being that means different things for different people. Some value freedom of choice, others seek freedom over their finances and most of us would love to have more freedom over our time.
It’s something so many of us strive for, yet it so often feels elusive. In fact, modern life can have us feeling like we’re on a hamster wheel, spinning just to survive!
For many of us, we start to feel trapped, despondent, believing there are no options other than to keep doing what we’re doing, even if we don’t like it.
But here’s the thing.
We always, ALWAYS have choices available to us.
Take what you’re doing right now for example. How many options are available for you to change your current situation? For instance:
Are you comfortable? If not, can you change position?
Are you too hot or too cold? Can you grab a blanket or remove a layer of clothing?
Where are you right now? Can you stand up and move to the left or right? Can you walk away? Can you go somewhere else?
What are you doing? Can you choose a different activity and do that?
What are you eating and drinking? Can you stop consuming those foods? Can you eat something else instead?
What are you thinking about? Can you switch your focus to something else?
Do you see how at any given moment we’re presented with unlimited possibilities? All it takes is a shift in perspective and a conscious choice to perceive the world through a lens of liberation.
If we can have agency over our lives in these small moments, why can’t we have it on a larger scale? Once you start thinking this way, you’ll see that we don’t have to be passive recipients of circumstance, we can be active in making the choices and decisions that shape our lives.
When we embrace this mindset and start putting it into action, the possibilities for life become endless.
