Did We Create The 'Enemy'? The Role Of Responsibility

It may not be our fault, but it is our responsibility.

In our modern day and age, we’ve become used to certain limits and restrictions in our lives. From the guidance of guardians to the structures of governments, we're accustomed to seeking the safety and boundaries they provide. Yet within the familiarity lies an essential truth:

Self-sovereignty can only occur when we take full responsibility for every aspect of our lives.

Allow me to explain using one of the biggest sectors today - the financial sector.

Big banks have played an undeniable role in our financial landscape for centuries. They’ve delivered a service we’ve all used, and we’ve benefitted from the convenience of someone else taking care of our money. However…. We are seeing banks impose more limitations and restrictions on how we access and use our money, and it’s becoming clear that the old way of doing things might not be in our best interests anymore.

Is it the system's fault? Not quite. Banks only exist because we, as a society, created the need for them. At some point in time, we collectively chose to relinquish control over our finances and give that burden to someone else.

In short, we handed over the responsibility.

This pattern echoes across many monopolised industries today. Just think of how often we delegate and outsource responsibility in our lives, from industries like big pharma, right down to the food we eat. These entities thrive because, we, as a society, want someone else to ‘do it for us’. Many view this as how the world is. But it doesn’t have to stay that way.

To have true mastery over our lives, we must take full responsibility. So when we talk about true freedom, we have to recognise our role in creating the systems that oppress us. Then consciously choose to take a more empowered stance.

True responsibility can seem daunting to start with, but it’s far from the dangerous force we’ve been led to believe. It's a responsibility worth embracing — a call to reassess our role in these structures and choose a path that empowers us.
